Carlsbad Republican Women (CRWF) welcomes Donald Wagner, candidate for CA Secretary of State, and taxpayer advocate and School Board Trustee, Andrew Hayes!

At the April 28th meeting, Carlsbad Republican Women (CRWF) welcomes Donald Wagner, Orange County Supervisor District 3. Wagner is the sole 2026 Republican candidate for the CA Secretary of State to replace Democrat Shirley Weber. Joining Wagner as a speaker is Andrew Hayes, local taxpayer advocate and Lakeside School Board Trustee.

Don Wagner has a distinguished career of public service and a well-earned reputation as a straight-shooter and fiscal watchdog and champion for working families, small businesses, and veterans. He is running for Secretary of State to ensure only eligible voters cast ballots and elections are secure, efficient, accurate, and accessible. Wagner states, “As Secretary of State, my office will make certain the public has complete, ready access to all of the financial information about candidates that state law demands they produce. I will also be an active partner with the entrepreneurs and job-creators on which our economy depends.” Wagner has served on the Orange County Board of Supervisors since 2019 and was Mayor of Irvine from 2016 to 2019. He also served in the California State Assembly from 2010 to 2016.

Andrew Hayes, a native of East County San Diego, first ventured into politics in 2014 when he joined the legislative office of CA State Senator Joel Anderson (38th Senate District). In 2018, he continued his public service as District Director for CA Senator Brian W. Jones. In 2018, he was also elected to serve on the Lakeside Union School District Board of Trustees. On the Board, Hayes has been a champion for parents’ rights by defeating a $66 million dollar tax hike, leading a coalition of 40 school districts to re-open schools during COVID, and passing the first in the county parents’ bill of rights, eliminating policies that require school staff to keep secrets from parents.

CRWF’s April 28th luncheon will be held at the Holiday Inn, 2725 Palomar Airport Road, Carlsbad. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and the program begins at 11:00 a.m. Cost is $44 for CRWF members/$49 for non-members.
